Summer 1994 just after when I first met Vogel, Consume and Si Begg after recording MSQ-002 at the East Sussex University Studio which Cris had blagged for the Summer. Brighton had a good techno scene back then along with Ugly Records which was particularly good for US imports. Consume had an early CD mixing set-up which he carted everywhere to play his mish-mash up style music with. When i met and heard Vogel i knew he was a special talent in techno. He had a signature sound and it was tough, abstract and bassy. I wanted to be part of it.

I met the Sativa posse though my flatmate John Stewart who worked in Avalance records. Dave Tarrida and Toby crashed into my life.Toby was a well chilled art student whom I instantly bonded with over electronic music and machines. Dave was a bit scambled after squatting in Holland and doing the free-party one for too long. He got back into organising Sativa with Ally Hill and that settled him down into building the label and getting on with our ascent into the music industry.
